ABC Communications (Holdings) Ltd. (ABC) announces the commercial launch of the first high-speed financial paging system in the world. The new system, known as "QuickSilverTM", signifies a major technological breakthrough in the local and global financial markets.
Ms Patricia Yeung, Deputy Managing Director of ABC, is proud of the technological accomplishment of ABC which enables Hong Kong to be the first market in the world to launch the most advanced real-time financial information dissemination system. "It is our persistent goal to develop advanced telecommunications services to serve the needs of diversified groups of customers. Our Group has made enormous effort and investment in developing this new data transmission system. Definitely, QuickSilverTM will be a landmark in the development of telecommunications both in Hong Kong and worldwide. Indeed, the QuickSilverTM system is Hong Kong's first truly high-speed paging network and high-speed receiver in service." said Ms Patricia Yeung.
QuickSilverTM, at 6,250 bps data rate, is five times faster than existing POCSAG paging receivers. The new system is designed for forex dealers, stock brokers, fund managers and individual investors. It can provide most updated quotations, analysis and consultations on market situation and investment strategies. By using 900MHz, unnecessary radio interference can be minimized. QuickSilverTM has a large databank to cater for up to 32 different kinds of information including all stocks and warrants on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
